Guest JAMIE T
Hey gang, I'm in the unique position that I can use either of these clutches for my 600whp RB26 powered 240Z. Each engine I bought came with one or the other. The triple is an OS Giken unit, and the twin is an Exedy/Nismo unit. I don't know which one to use? I'm thinking about putting the triple in it and just see what all the fuss is about. I want to try drifting, so it will probably be suitable for that, and all out racing. For the street, which is where I'll spend 98% of the time, I think it'll be too much. What do you guys think?
stony
both are a pain to drive in traffic. the triple is stronger but both will hold the power your gonna have . You will need to do something with the rearend as you will be in the same boat as me. the on off of those clutches will shread stubs and axles. Guest JAMIE T
Stony, check out the thread in the drivetrain section about the 33-35 spline stub axles to see my fix for the broken rear parts. It's gonna work.
stony
already did. I was thinking about going that route but decided to do the back halve. . I didn’t have the time or shop to build what your doing. but I did think about it. I wanted to put the GTr axles in there. But after that the r-200 would become the weak link with 600+ RWHP and traction of MT et streets. So I decided to dive in head first and go with a full race setup that will not break for a while. the setup I'm putting in mine is being run by allot of the stang guys putting down 1500+ RWHP and running in the 8s with no issues
Guest JAMIE T
I thought long about it also. I'd already bought the ZXTT R230 diff and axles. I scouted around for an 8.8 or 9" but money won out. I already had these parts. I knew it would work if I could only figure out a better stub axle, so I did the zxtt/q45 hubs. I'll be able to retain the IRS(not hugely important to ME, but a good sell point should that ever come up). I will want to run a full drag slick on this car also. But, I also want to try some drifting( I know it sounds ricer but I had a hell of a time the last time I was a spectator at an event.) And, I want to try and get some road racing track days in with it. I can't think of anything in my set-up that could be considered a weak link anymore. And that comforts me to no end. johnc
Having used a double behind my 320 L6, I suggest going with a triple if you're going to drive it on the street. What's the clutch diameter?
Guest JAMIE T
Good question John, I'll have to measure it.
