JaysZ
What seats do you have and what width are they? also, do you have a rollcage? i'm planning to do the S&W 8 point in my 280Z and i have a Recaro SPG seat. its very slim fitting but I want to make sure I'll have clearance with the cage installed. Pics of the seat I found online: http://www.proamauto.com/page11di.htm http://www.oichan.org/mods/recaro/recaro1.jpg http://www.oichan.org/mods/recaro/recaro3.jpg
Tim240z
I used the S&W kit and Corbeau Clubman seats. Had to make mods to the seat bar to have the seats far enough back. Pics on my site. Tim
blueovalz
I've got a full cage in mine and I finally decided on the Corbeau Forza. My issue with most aftermarket seats (with good shoulder support) was that the upper width was about 24" wide, which would rub the cage on the outside. The Forza is about 22.5 inches wide at the top, which is just narrow enough to fit. The Clubman is even narrower if needed. These two seats (Forza and Clubman) are fairly light and added no more weight than the Kirkey seats I removed. As Tim said, the back of the seat will be up against the main hoop crossbar, but I was not allowed to cut and bend it. Fortunately, I'm of average height and even with the seat back against the bar, I had to pull the pedals forward.
JaysZ
thanks for chiming in guys. i went to the body shop today to snap some pics of the progress (i finally got my digital cam recharger) but they sent it off to get media blasted i'm pretty excited about that. they've finished the floors/frame and will shaving the drip rails soon. anyway, as far as the seats.. i'm only 5'6 lol. would i still have problems? i usually have to scoot myself way up there anyway hahaha. i would like to be able to use sliders, would i be able to do that? this way when other people need to drive my car, they wont be cramped up. it seems the Corbeau seats are popular with Datsun owners.. would you mind giving me your thoughts on the SPG as far as shoulder support, etc? i fit in there SNUG... i love that seat because it is so slim and since i'm a skinny person, it works out great. what do you think? i could probably sell it and get TWO momo starts or something.. these seats new are almost $1000. mine is used and i'm getting a helluva deal on it. blueovalz
The SPG is beyond my meesly budget (and thus I cannot comment on it, being I can't afford one), but I like the fit of the Corbeau, and especially the price and weight. The one thing I do not like about it (the Forza, and Clubman as well) is the material used for the seat cover. It's very thin, and does not appear to be very forgiving in regards to snags and wear. I've had to be very carefull, in fabricating brackets, in regards to how I handle the seat.
JaysZ
well i gotta tell you... i got a GREAT deal (i got the seat for $200 lol) since it was used when my friend got it for his NSX and now he is passing it down to me for a new pair of recaros. $200 is even cheaper than momo starts! lol. the downside is i wont be able to afford another one to have a pair.. i'll either have just the drivers seat or i'll just put the stock passenger seat in. well, if and *when* all this is done, i'll be sure to snap some pics and leave some feedback... man i'm so anxious!!!
