Tim240z
I often look at my garage and all the 'junk' that I've accumulated over the years and think to myself...."Just throw it away already". However, perfect case in point: My 240Z daily driver's exhaust was completely shot. I had patched it with tape several times, but it was completely rusted out. Well, I happened to STILL have the old system off my truck (2.25"). A little cutting and welding, and 2 new mufflers (cheapest available:Turbo II @ $15, and cherry bomb at $20) and I now have a much beter flowing (compared to the 1.75" system that was on there) and quieter system. I have just reinforced to myself:"Don't throw anything out!! " Only problem is, it took a whole day away from working on the LT1 project. Guest greimann
I share that philosophy too! Great minds think alike, and I quote: To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. - Thomas Edison

Great minds think alike, and I quote: quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. - Thomas Edison -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amen to that. BTW...the flip side to "Great minds think alike" = "Dumb ones never differ" But I prefer the former. Tim
pparaska
Dude, you should see my garage and basement. I throw NOTHING away. Worn out parts, scrap, twist ties from toy packaging, boxes, packing material, wire, any piece of metal I could POSSIBLY make something out of. I still have my L6, 4spd, the complete exhaust, a set of 73 carbs I could put on, etc. Never know when the smog nazi's will want to start smogging my 73! Throw it out, are you crazy!? Guest greimann
Ummm, I would like to retract my previous statement. Maybe I don't think EXACTLY like you guys do after all. "Twist ties from toy packaging", "Every empty container of Simple Green".... Guys, you need some professional help. It is called Asperger's Syndrome and the sooner you come to grips with that, the sooner we can get you some help! Please start by throwing out those old newspapers, toilet paper rolls and every steak bone that is stuffed under the sofa! It will only get worse when someone in your family is killed by a giant stack of junk mail!
Tim240z
Ya just never know when you might need something?! Those 1 gal simple green bottles make good used oil containers, or cut out the front section, lay it down and it makes a good parts, or nuts and bolts tray. Not sure about the old steak bones though.....Pete, you got some of those? Tim
Phantom
If it's 12 months old and I haven't used it - it's gone. I only have a two-car garage and I have 4 cars. No space for a zillion spare parts I don't need right now. I do, however, live only 3 miles from a Z car wrecking yard that has literally any part I need - even a 3.7:1 R200 LSD. I got the last one! pparaska
Tim, no steak bones . No used toilet paper rolls either. BTW, I save WW fluid, antifreeze and plastic milk jugs for oil recycling transport. (Aspergers - I know about that one. My son has many of it's sympoms. Freaky weird obsessions. You definitely have to re-adjust your level of acceptable behavior when around somebody with that! ) Every time I throw something I think might be useful out, I find an application for it within the next week. Guest Anonymous
I got you all beat. I can reach into about any rat nest pile and just about pull out anything I desire. I have so much junk I got some of it farmed out in Southern Cal waiting for pickup. Spent the summer packing junk off so I could pack new jumk in. My motto is 3 of everything so if something gets lost or stolen there is a spare.I have tools that have been lost and mysteriously appear about every year for a day or so for my enjoyment..I wish the collection of gear pullers would appear since I needed them last week. I have things that I do not know what their function or purpose is. Every once in awhile something appears that I forgot I had and I get all excited all over again. As I was telling Clyde and Clint the other day..........Where is the pontiac......
