I hope you don't mind Bartman, but I just got a call from a buddy of mine that is gutting a '00 LS1 Camaro to be a full on race car and he gave me first dibs on the fuel tank. I pick it up tommorow in the AM. So, if anyone is thinking about this LS1 tank swap, throw me a PM.

EDIT: sale pending

Okay, here's some pic's of my filler neck installation. It could still use a little more work, but here's what I have for now:

This first shot shows the access via the stock Z access door. The clearance is tight, and the new cap won't fit as it is right now. My tank came with a cap that had to top part removed, so at least for now it works.

The shot above shows how I routed the neck to the side of the existing opening (I plan on putting in a piece of sheetmetal to block the opening). This allows enough clearance for my exhaust below.

Here you can see the fuel hose to the tank and the clearance to my exhaust.

Install looks good! Just curious but what fuel level guage will you be using? Does the LS1 tank sending unit operate on 0-90 ohm like most other GMs?
Not quite sure on the ohm range but from what I've read it's something like 40-240 ohm, and I haven't quite decided how I want to proceed with the fuel gauge. Supposedly I should be able to get an Autometer gauge that will work with this sending unit, but I wonder if there's a way I could swap in my datsun sending unit to work with my stock fuel gauge. Obviously this is something I still need to sort out.

I decide to try and make my existing fuel gauge work. Here's a shot of the stock LS1 fuel bucket with the sending unit:

I decided to try and remove the complete sending unit and replace it with the one from my original datsun tank. At first it didn't look like it would work, but a little thought and some careful cutting with a cut-off wheel and I finally got it mounted and able to fit in the existing opening:

I also had to change the bends in the float arm. All in all I'm happy to have a working fuel gauge again.
