Im currently building a turbo 396 setup in my Z, and its getting about time to order a camshaft... Was wondering if anyone has any info on fuel injecter turbo V-8 camshafts that I should look for.... Maybe grumpy?

Cammotion reccomended a VERY small camshaft, which seemed strange, considering the 396 c.i., and the 1000+ hp goal.

I once had to spec out a camshaft for a small V8 supercharger application, and the people had summit recommended using the nitrous cam grinds that they had. Makes sense to me since nitrous is forced induction and requires same things turbocharging does. Cam worked great.

You want a bias toward less overlap and wider lobe separation angles.

A slightly longer than usual exhaust duration can help in reducing backpressure and clearing the combustion chamber under boost.

If I remember correctly, crane may have some decent grinds for turbo apps. It can't hurt to call them.

make damn sure they understand which turbo flow map, intercooler , heads, compression ratio, fuel octane, boost controller, waste gates,ETC are being used, if they don,t ask YOU need to ASK for someone who understands why it makes a differance

BTW

Brad-ManQ45 is correct, CRANE and CROWER do alot of turbo cam builds
