Tokiko's or KYB's for 280zxt

Recommended Posts

I am ready to purchase some new struts for my 280ZXT and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on either of these struts and there differences. The car has been off the road for quite some time, so input is appreciated. My suspension has the typical mods like urethane bushings, swaybars, etc., but the springs and struts are stock. Car is ( will be ) driven on the street 95% of the time with some possible strip/track time later on. I was looking at either the Tokiko HP's or the KYB GR-2's from JDMwerks on Ebay. This place's prices are cheap, are they for real!? Are these knock-offs? Thanks in advance

I say tokicos all the way

When I had my '81 ZX, I had a set of KYB's shocks and Suspension techniques springs and I hated them. They didn't improve the handling all that much and they made the ride too jouncy, as well, within the space of a year they began to sag really bad, and my car would scrape on even moderate driveways.

Now on my 240 I am running eibach springs and tokico shocks and I LOVE them. Doesn't lower the car too much, they are stiff but not overly stiff, and the car seems to handle really well compared to other cars I've driven (though the chassis flex is noticeable). They've been on my car over three years and they have not sagged. This is just regular Eibach pro kit springs and the non adjustable shocks. The combo wasn't too expensive and they're all lifetime warranteed by manufacturer.

I say Tokico's all the way.
