auxilary
Stupid Ford. Australia gets this Ford [falcon] GT with about 370hp (290kw, i think my conversion is correct) and 380 ft lbs of torque (520nM). 5.4L v8 with 10.5:1 compression. I don't like ford, but that's damn cool, and I'd drive that any day!
Guest TM240Z
I also think they should be importing these. They race the Holden Monaro with the LS1 in the aust V8 supercar series. Maybe when GM imports the Holden and makes it the new GTO, ford will have to import it.
auxilary
of course it's rwd. i wouldn't expect a transversely mounted dohc 5.4 liter v8
Guest Anonymous
The falcon bears somewhat of a resemblance to the taurus. Is it RWD?
Mike C
That is cool. I don't think Ford is to blame, however, but your fellow American. They don't want to buy enough of those cars to make it profitable. I think that would be a worthy successor to the Crown Vic, however! randy 77zt
the blame is about 50/50 john q public/ford.i work at a ford dealer with 30 techs.most of the time the shop has 8 0r 9 suv to 1 car.i hate suvs-the only thing they are good for is hauling kids once they figure out how to climb into the thing.there is no ford car i would buy even with my d plan discount.a falcon with a dohc 5.4 and a 6 speed might do it.but it had better be as tight inside as a mercedes or bmw.if gas prices ever go up alot suvs will be on every corner for sale.most of the ford cars are rattle and squeek to much or have too many cheap parts . Guest 26ounce
I don't know what brought it on but Australian car manufacturers seem to be going through a muscle car war. Holden seems to be in the lead looks-wise with the Monaro, but Ford seem to have closed the gap in the hp stakes. Some recent info : The Ford T Series sedans use a longer-stroke crankshaft to lift the capacity of Ford's Windsor V8 from 5.0 litres to 5.6 and raise peak power from 220kW to 250 – just 5kW shy of HSV's 5.7-litre Gen III Chevrolet engine. But the Windsor now holds the torque honours: 500Nm at 4250rpm against the Gen III's 475Nm at 4000. There is even something for the turbo fans with a new turbo 6 cylinder version of the Ford car shown above. It gained an 58kW from a Garrett GT40 turbocharger perched over the stainless steel exhaust manifold. Engine: 4.0-litre 24-valve fuel-injected turbocharged six-cylinder. Power: 240kW at 5250rpm. This one seems a good deal at Aus$44K
randy 77zt
when pontiac brings out the holden/pontiac gto for late 2003 maybe it will force ford to update the mustang or bring out a new car.the chassis that the jag /lincoln ls /tbird has the suspension already done.just need a new body. Guest ON3GO
if those front headlights and headlight Cut-outs dont look like them came off a RSX then i dont no what will.. its a nice car but also the rear tail lights looks just like the AM Vanquish... which could be a good thing.
