Home made bump-stop?

Recommended Posts

I forgot to order the bumpstops from victoria british and I am going to put all my bushings in (and tokico illuminas) in the front suspension, So instead of having to wait to order some, or leave them out all together, or take apart my suspension again... I was wondering if there was something out there to make bumpstops out of. Something probably available at homedepot or lowes. anyone have any ideas?

i already took a peek at what pepboys and autozone had in the "performance suspension" section and i didn't see anything that even resembled a bump-stop, except for the jeep kind, where its attached to the chassis and limits the travel of the control arm.

This is what i'm trying to make... but i didn't find at autozone or pep boys...

Don't know about the US but here suspension shops sell generic type bump stops, I assume you are talking about the ones that slip over the strut insert shaft. Alternatively, something like a rubber shock absorber eye bush could be used, not much give though.
