Mech oil pressure

Where is the best place to install the line for my mechanical oil pressure gauge?

There is a passage right behind the distributor housing that works good because its nice and close to the firewall and you can run a shorter line. You may not notice this because there might already be a sensor far an idiot light in there.

You can put it right behind the distributor, that way you can run a shorter line and not have to worry about it getting crimped or burnt.

Behind the distributor housing? That is the edge of the intake manifold. Do you have a picture?

[/url]This pic sucks but its the best i could find. If you look close you can see the threaded hole for a fitting, it's to the left of the distributor on the block not the intake manifold

there is also one just above the oil filter on the side of the block and on some early blocks on the front of the block, passenger side above the timing cover.

The one above the timing cover just enters into the lifter valley, it is not pressurized so you cannot use it for a guage.
