larsz
Has anyone tried the early 4 hole by 4.5 new chrome Mustang Cobra wheels 17x8 with 4.95 backspacing sold on ebay ? I have the zg flares & with tokico lowering springs. I need to know which spacer to use & if it needs to be hub centric?
aarang
Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe the early fox body Mustang with the 4 bolt pattern is 4 x 4.25, not 4 x 4.
EZ-E
No the early fox body stang carries the same bolt patter as our Z's do.
qwik240z
Are these the wheels you are talking about? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AFS-79-93-Mustang-Wheels-Cobra-R-4-lug-Silver-17x9_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43957QQitemZ8003975741QQrdZ1 ITEM DESCRIPTION: You are bidding on a set of four brand-new SILVER replica Cobra "R" style rims and center caps. There is NO RESERVE on this auction! Please see the pictures below. WHAT THEY WILL FIT: They will fit the 1979 -1993 Ford Mustangs, all models except 1986 SVO and 1993 Cobra. SIZE AND SPECIFICATIONS: They are 4-lug (4 on 4 1/4). We have combined two sizes on this auction, 2 - 17" x 8" (+12mm with 4.95" backspacing) for the front, and 2 - 17x9 (+24mm with 5.95" backspacing) for the rear. We really like using the 17" x 8" on the front of the Fox body Mustang! It gives better handling and NO RUBBING problems! ABOUT THE FINISH: We use a SILVER powder-coated paint that is actually baked onto the rims. This is followed-up with a clear coat to further protect the rims from yellowing or fading. This finish is extremely durable and very easy to maintain. Just wash them with the same gentle detergent you would use on your waxed car. Please note these are NOT blemished wheels. Bid with confidence on this set! QUALITY: All AFS wheels are DOT approved! The rims are structurally sound. We guarantee the rims to be straight, true and not out of round. If they are, the price is not too bad. $499 for a set of 4 wheels. I'd be interested to know if they will fit too.
BlackBeaut
So that would be a no then, 4x4.25" is no good on a 4x4.5" Z hub. Also, am I wrong or what? Wouldn't a 4.95" back spacing on a 8j rim give a +24mm offset, and 5.95" backspacing on a 9j rim give near as +37mm offset, rather than the 12mm and 24mm listed there? Cheers, Rob
fastzcars
I don't think they would fit also. The first gen mustangs did come with the 4x4.5 bolt pattern. I know because I purchased 14x7 american mags from a Z that fit my 65 mustang back in college. I'm running 17x8 centerline with 5 inch bachaspace and they fit perfectly in the wheelwell's. But I am running coilovers.

DatsunBoy77
Go to item #7910795414. They make them in 16x8 with a 4x4.5 with 0 offset if you want. I don't know if they do that with 17's though.
