EvilRufusKay
Well i disassembled my suspension some time ago with the thoughts of installing coilovers. Now I am getting ready to move my shop and I have to pull the car off the rottisierie (sp?) I wa going to throw the struts back together but I seem to be missing one front spring and one rear spring cap. I also tossed the strut inserts like a fool and without them I am shot! Anybody got some of these parts laying around? Or maybe a suggestion for doing it some other way? Otherwise I have to leave the car on there and it will be a SOB to move. It can be done but it will suck!!
datsunlover
I may be able to help you out man... If you're talking about the rear struts, I have two used rear 'BOGE' strut inserts I'll give you, and two brand new KYB GR2 front's, still in boxes. I can't remember exactly what I spent on them.. $150 or so I think.. As for springs/caps, I can have a look through some old buy+sell papers, there was a guy with a bunch of 240-280 parts (entire front suspension, doors, tranny, ect) that I know of localy, wanted $200 for the whole mess iirc.. Either way, my buddy is still driving truck through the states evry week, maybe a drop off/meet could be aranged as well. I'm not online much anymore (don't know if you saw my last post about a month ago) but PM me if this will help you and I can give you my phone #(s) if you want to get a hold of me. EvilRufusKay
Thanks man, I will keep your gracious offer in mind. I may end up renting a flatbed and moving the car still on the rot. It doesn't make much sense to put stuff on it that I do not plan to use...Glad to here things are working out with you and the GF. jaime240z
Don't move it on the rotisserrie (sp?) You may damage the mounting points if the car is rolling down the road while bolted to the rotisserrie. I think you can easily make a wooden craddle using 2x4, 4x4, and casters. I think it would be safer to move a shell while the frame rails/body is resting on a craddle and easily moved on casters. I was trying to find a picture of one but I can't at the moment. Seems like a safer alternative to me.
EvilRufusKay
good point. Exactly the kind of idea I was looking for. Heck if I had 6 guys we could probably carry it out to the flat bed... Or how about this. Get it up on the flatbed still on the rot (easier to spell) then block the fraim rails somehow to avoid the flexing. I could even run bracing all the way down the car which would be attached to the rot itself. The rot is super heavy duty 3.5 x 3/8 square tubing!! So it will definately not flex itself. Thoughts? I will mock something up and post for review.
randy 77zt
a bare shell can be easily moved by 3 or 4 guys.me a 2 friends loaded a 86 mustang shell onto a flat trailer by carrying it out and setting on a trailer.the shell was stripped except for windshield and side windows.
