oinojo
I have just swapped my l28et into my 240z that had a 81' NA 280zx and i cant get it to crank over. It sounds like the starter is stuck. Is it possible that since the na flywheel is 225mm, that the 240mm flywheel is too big for my starter?
GHtokyo
HI, I swapped the starters on a '75 280z and '83 zxt with no problem. So I think the diferent flywheel sizes is moot.
JMortensen
Can you turn it over by hand? First thing is to make sure that there isn't something seriously wrong with the new motor. The turbo is lower compression so it should actually be easier to turn over than a non turbo. If the engine is fine and the starter won't crank it over you need to start diagnosing the usual issues there. Battery, battery cables, connections to the starter, ignition switch, and a bad starter itself are the most common causes for your problem. Did this happen with the old starter? Did you use the starter off of the ZXT engine or the original? If this didn't happen with the old engine and just started happening now, then I'd start looking at connections and cables. Anyway, fill in some of the blanks and we might be able to help a bit more.
