Guest 73TPIZ
Been running my car at the track lately and have done okay against the 'stangs and F-bodies (winning some, losing some) But fri nite i started picking on a stang ('91 lx 5.0 5spd) and we played a little heading out of town. he jumped me a couple of times and pulled hard past me (mine's an automatic), so i thought i had nothing for him. Headed back to town and he followed me to the Sonic and started talking trash. Asked if i was really trying to run him. Told him yea and he agreed to give me 2 and the break. Went out of town and it turns out i didn't need it. Raced again heads up giving him the break. Passed him in second gear and had him by 4 cars at least at the end. You know, i had the cutout open and i believe the idiot still thought i had a 6 cyl under the hood. .BTW i'm runnin 13.2 @ 102. not bad for a '86 305 TPI w/ the stock iron heads on it. Crappiest V8 the General ever made. Can't wait to get the 355 in it
Guest Anonymous
nice kill. just out of curiosity..... where is lakecity? near the beach? nic
Mike C
Good job! But I have to argue with you on the TPI 305 being the crappiest motor GM ever made... Plenty of others are worse. Non TPI 305? 267 Monza V8? Just to name a couple...
Guest 73TPIZ
Dominic, i'm below florence about an hour from the beach. If you follow 378 to the beach i'm 45 min east of Sumter. Saw you were from Columbia a while back and thought about driving up there to see your project sometime. let me know. Mike, yea i was a little harsh on the 305. Don't get me wrong about the TPI, that's my favorite part of the setup. it's just that the 3.74? in. bore chokes that engine down. Let's don't forget the Olds 260 V8, that's got to be a close second. Guest 73TPIZ
Hey Fast Frog, guess where i bought my Z from? i bought it in Fort Collins, CO while my company had me in Boulder for 5 months last year. Small world, eh? Drove it home at Christmas and blew the 6 cyl up this past Feb. And that's when all the fun began........
Guest Fast Frog
73TPIZ: Unless you bought it from a car lot, I might know the person you bought it from. We lived there for 16 yrs before moving here. Did a lot events that involved Z cars!

Guest 73TPIZ
Hey thanks guys, Fast Frog, the guy that owned it had moved there ~4 yrs ago from AZ and had never registered it in CO. He just dusted it off every now and then in his shed and drove it a little. His name is Dane Emde. he lived north? of town i believe near the large concrete? plant (not familiar w/ the area). the car looked like an AZ native, faded but very little rust. not sure if he would approve of the changes, he loved that little 6 with the triple webers, as did i. oh well...............
