Guest Anonymous
In march I bought my first z which I am selling its a 72 with alot of work done to it .. so i thought. The engine runs amazingly strong an the webers might be rich and i get a clunk in the diff mount bushings , clutch needs to be adjusted just a tad , the bad thing is when I purchased the car from a guy named "pablo" in tampa fl he said it was ready to run , right there the clutch went out because of a leaky slave cyl oring, we replaced in his driveway.. After getting home ( not being able to use the clutch to much something seemed wrong all of a sudden we just thought a small adjustment.. i ended up having to replace the master slave cyl .. then the door internals broke the next day which i replaced , the weather stripping he said would go on wasnt even from a z it was from some other car so i purchsed those new .. from zspecialaialities ( great guy ) Hi "first" wonderful paint job the paint chips off because of not sanding the primer , i chipped it 5 diff places while i have been trying to sell it for a month , today the hatch upper arms broke they were "jb welded" on , i get to go take it to get new metal peices put on , the upper rim of the hatch after taking it off i noticed alot of dirt etc under the paint .. HE DIDNT EVEN REMOVE THE HATCH TO PAINT the car .. There is nothing more annoying than paying 4600 for a car putting over 100 hours in it and 894 + 400 for other peoples laber in dollars and end up having to sell it for 4500 .. =( He said "there was nothign wrong with it" he just covered everything up and i had to fix it, the exhaust wasnt even welded at first , he used u clamps .. 1) next time i buy a z it is not going to be from pablo. 2) get someone who really really really knows z's to look at it. 3) After finally fixing the car right don't be forced to move so you have to sell it =( Spending so much time on a car to get it perfect sucks when in the end you just have to end up selling it. Mike C
Well, after all that you actually know what to look for on Z's! That is one advantage to buying a basket case is that everything needs to be fixed, and you know it! As for your wish, not gonna' happen unfortunately. Guest zfan
Don't feel bad. When I purchased the Z of my dreams for 6K it already had been converted and had a pretty wild 327 in it. I drove the car and inspected it, all seemed ok, guy said heads could use a clean up, little work. Car was delivered to me and I paid the delivery people for the car, it came from Austin, delivered to Dallas as is. That afternoon I took the car out with my son and took it up to maybe 4K and heard this awful noise. Needless to say the motor trashed right there. I had to buy a new motor the next day for 2K..OUCH!!! Man that still pisses me off Mike

Guest Anonymous
I keep aboat at a marina at the beach. Not a nice boat, it floats on a good day but it's great for the salt water. Last time out exhaust mainfold started leaking water into cylinder #5 & #7. I got it to the marina, they supposedly drained the block and filled it with oil, new plugs and someother stuff. I brought it home to fix. When I pulled the drain plug on the pan I was greated with gallons of salt water. Now my just barly floating boat gets the 454 rebuilt. Talk about steamed!! RPMS
Wow, Brian. It sounds like you got an expensive education! I know this will probably make me sound like an ass, but I'll say it anyway because it might help you in the future. Don't waste time wishing that people didn't lie. Instead, spend your time educating yourself about what you're purchasing! If you EVER spend more than a week's income on ANYTHING, make sure of what you're getting. Research it, check it out, and if you don't know what to look for, consult someone who does know! A blown clutch slave can happen to anyone, but the bad paint, the cobbled- together exhaust, the JB Weld, should have made every alarm bell in your head ring. I'd say that the lack of an education cost you about $2,000 on that transaction, and you were just as much at fault for buying it as he was for selling it. Let the Buyer Beware. I can't believe how most men will shell out three or four thousand dollars on a diamond ring for their brides without knowing the first thing about precious stones. Or will get a thousand dollars in engine work done by a shop they know nothing about. You worked HARD to make that cash, why make it easy for someone to take it away from you? *sigh* Okay, okay, I'm off my soapbox now. I'm honestly sorry that you got taken for a ride, and I know that the disappointment is a bitter pill in your mouth. But like Mike said, at least next time you'll know what to look out for.
