Synthetic Oil?

I think Amsoil is great! I put it in pretty much every car my family owns, even my dirtbike. Though I have not tried it in my car because I was worried using full synthetic in an older car with this many miles (just over 100k). Not to long ago I had my dad send out to be an Amsoil dealer so pretty soon I will be getting it at real good prices if anyone needs any.

If your converting an engine that has already run petroleum based oils long enough to build up deposits, switching to a synthetic 'may ' loosen those deposits causing problems with the engine (bearings, plug passages ... ). Most synthetic oils are very good detergents and will "clean out" residual carbon, etc as you run them.

Amsoil and Royal Purple are probably two of the best blends available right now.
