AdrianZ
I bought a le Mans with a 350 for $140 and i was going to put it in my Z (the 350) the car reved fine in park but uner load it's crap. after looking into it it looks like it's getting stuck in high idle the primaries are open all the way and the secondaries only open up about a 1mm. also there seems to be a small fuel leak in a cracked fuel line by the tank. my question is. is the choke screwed up if so how do i fix it (a choke kit?) and is my fuel leak giving me thios problem? Pop N Wood
I would rebuild the carb first then see if you still have a problem. A car that old, especially if it has been sitting, probably needs rebuilding anyway. What year is the car? If it is a mid 70's, then you have a smog carb. Probably worth while to just scrap the old carb and pick up a new edlebrock with manifold. Might be dollars ahead in the long run.
dmyntti
Is the choke opening? There is a linkage in the carb that prevents the secondaries from kicking in until the choke is off. This should be at the base of the carb, I believe on the side opposite the throttle. I am assuming this is a quadrajet. Like suggested before you may want to start with a carb rebuild and go from there.
AdrianZ
It's a smog carb but it was rebuilt about a year or two ago. it's just been sitting. the car runs fine when i first start it but after it warms up it stalls out. I'll post pics later today
