Guest zfan
Darius, Question for you! did you use mandrel bent tube all the way back? I have exhaust design like yours but at the time did not know about mandrel bend and local shop used standard 2 inch pipe with some severe pinching going on, would it be worth it to reddo in 2 1/2 mandrel all the way back. I have, about 55 minutes. I think it had alot to do with the sending end. average 500kbps. Not that great for speed, but considering the alternatives. It was pretty good, just thought I would have seen alittle more of the cops. Where can i find this elusive 911 file??? Let me know!
Darius
If you have a v-8 and are running 2inch pinch bends you would definatly be better of with 2 1/2 mandrel bent pipes. My system is dual 3 mandrel from the headers back, no pinching going on anywhere. Another system I have used is 2, 2 1/2 pipes into a 3 1/2 pipe but to flow like dual 3's you would probably need a single 4 to 4 1/2 and I know z dont have ground clearance for that. I have always liked a big single better, and supposedly it makes more power. If you go to a qualified muffler shop flowmaster has a chart of what size exhaust you need depending on how much power you have. I think dual 3inch is good for over 500 hp. It also depends on how high you rev your motor, higher reving=faster exhaust=bigger tubing to restrict less power. Get the sawzall out and hack of that 2 inch pipe!! BLKMGK
Have a look at Spintech's OVAL tubing if ground clearance is an issue They start their tubing at 3inches and go UPWARDS from there. They sell adapters, mufflers, and tubing. I've seen their ads in several mags so finding them shjouldn't be hard - bound to be a WEB site for them but I've not looked. Darius
Yes it is an 2000 R-1 and I love it. I love to take it out and do wheelies, burnouts, stoppies, with my buddies, your right it does not get any better than a V8-Z and a R-1, well maybe a V8-Z a R-1 and a 40ft scarab with 2 blown big block's filled full of hot chick's!! As for the oval tubing I would like to have my car lower but the exhaust limits me from going any lower. I want to go fast, like 180 to 200 amd I know getting the car low will make it more stable at speed and keep air from traveling underneath the car, I will have to look into that, thanks for the info!!
