LS1 240Z
Where did you hear about (or read about) the LS6 having removable sleeves? As for the LS1 block being stronger' date=' that may be true since they start out at the same thickness and they machine a bit more from the LS6 block to fit larger bore pistons. Also, would you not consider better crankcase breathing and lower crackcase air pressure to be a benefit? Apparently GM disagrees with you.[/quote'] LS6 has same sized pistons as a LS1 so idk what you are talking about. it was my understanding that the LS6 blocks have a removable cyl sleeve, unlike the LS1 where it has to be machined out. reguardless, the point of the post was that the LS6 block isnt any more valuable than a LS1 block and that in most cases the LS1 is better. Sorry for the brain fart there. I did know that the bore was the same. So considering that the bore is the same and they are made the same way and the only difference being that the LS6 blocks have the larger bulkhead windows, I still want to know..... HOW ARE THE LS1 BLOCKS STRONGER?? Is there any actual documentation to show this or is this just opinion and speculation? Also, I believe that the post was.... "What gains does an ls6 block have ? " and LS1 240Z said "removable sleeves in the block, thats it. LS1 block is stronger. so its actualy a worse thing if you have the LS6 block in there" So far I have not been shown any documentation that the LS6 block has removable sleeves or that it is less strong then the LS1 block. As for having more or less value, again that is opinion. Value is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it. If someone wants to build an all out race motor they may see more value in an LS6 block since it has the bulkhead windows.
Guest el240z
Hey guys, I thought that this might clarify some things up, it's a sticky on LS1TECH. DaleMX
The LS6 and the LS1 have the same sleeves. You gotta machine them out on both.

This is what I have been saying. So does anyone have any documentation that an LS1 block is stronger then an LS6 block?
Guest el240z
I think the only reason they say the LS1 blocks are stronger is because it has more stock on the block since there are no bay windows, but in all realilty I think these minor changes really don't warrant either block to be better.
