Guest needwaymorespeed
Found some camber plates where the upper mount is isolated with urethane-sound very nice install from bottom of car into original strut top location-the 3 holes- no cutting of strut towers allow 2.5 degrees of camber adjustment Having them shipped out ill post more when I get them. Top end performance has them there made by pmc??? and cost 139.00 a pair recently recieved there ultimate strut bars and very pleased with the quality Curtis
Modern Motorsports Ltd
Those are for 2.5" OD springs only I"m guessing? Adjustable from the bottom or via a big stud on the top? I've got a set of Moog ones that fit a 280ZX that go from underneath and pop up with a big stud I never did install and are FS.
Mikelly
Curtis... I'm guessing they are 2.5 springs as well, but if they aren't please let us know.. that is the right price and I like using the existing bolt method. They would be great with a coilover kit and I'd be buying those for the rear ASAP! Modern Motorsports Ltd
Just FWIW, a v. kewl and trick 'sly' way of getting a nice adjustable front end is having adjustable control arms etc modified. David CArrol of Experimental Engg. does this routinely for 510's and some others, send him cores etc if it's not a comon one. Fully adjustable from underneath with OE look up top. Personally I like top and bottom adjustable for all out maximum track width:-) But spacers are far cheaper IMO to achieve that if within reason. Mikelly
Yup,I have the lower adjustable control arms already on the front and would like to make some up for the rear, but I'd also use the camber plates on the rear in a pinch if they worked with coilovers! Mike You lucky z owners can do that, on our ZX with STA rear susp. camber plates do nothing:-((
BLKMGK
MikeSCCA - can you get these and are they worth it? Do you regain any suspension travel on a lowered car like I believe you would with standard ones? I personally like the underneath install as my rollcage is welded close enough in the rear that I'm not sure it would be possible to put anything in from up top! Had to grind a bit on the rear strut bar as it was. As I recall MikeSCCA can get the "other" camber plates that TopEnd sells for significantly less so... Oh one thing to watch out for but I'm not sure if it applies to the Zs. On the FOX bodied Mustangs you have to be VERY careful with camber plates. Seems they take ALL of the suspension load and on Mustangs there have been "issues" with the strut punching through the plate and into the hood! Seems some of the plates hold the bearing with a small circlip that doesn't have enough depth on a "whoops, I'm sliding sideways through gravel off the track" kind of move. Do the Zs have this issue too?
Guest scca
never heard of them or seen them at all would like to see a detailed pic...... VERY MUCH...... BUT i'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for and that seems so cheap that i would have to see it to believe it....that they arent just junk.... so prove me wrong! thats 1/2 the price for GC or DP so..... ------------------ Mike http://www.fonebooth.com raceparts and brakeupgrades
Guest Anonymous
Hi all, Im building a Z from the ground up and Ive gone the way of the adjustable lower control arms. I have built (but dont sell) both front and rear adjustable arms for a 71 Z. . .Ive got a pic of the front one at http://www.usq.edu.au/users/degroot/240z/pages/suspension.htm and will have pics of the rear ones there soon. Ive made them with left hand/right had bolts made of high tensile steel, so they can be adjusted on the car. Feel free to have a look. pparaska
Check out the rest of Simon's site. It's the nicest Z site I've seen, and some really nicely engineered and executed Z mods are eveident everywhere. Guest scca
the widening of a caliper is way what we used to do with volvo calipers to use over ZX rotors for 510 vented brake conversions---- FYI volvo calipers are a direct bolt on to a dime strut ear. that was before volvo had vented brakes. i imagine that 4runner calipers were $$ in AU. so this was easier/cheaper.... why did you use a honda rotor as opposed to a 300 one? they look like 280 hubs with the differnt flange ------------------ Mike mike@fonebooth.com http://www.fonebooth.com/brakes.html raceparts and brake upgrades. Guest Anonymous
The hubs are out of a 240K. . .I dont know if you got them over there, a bit of an ugly duckling. Using the Honda Rotors, and the 240k hubs, everything bolts up with only minimal mucking round (machine the centre of the rotor out and skim a bit of the outside diameter), and I picked the vented Honda rotors up, with the scoring, for $148 Aus. . .about $78 US brand new. The 240K rotors cost me $25 a side (I did have to put bearing & seal kits through them). This was a cheap option compared to sourcing the 300 parts over here. Guest Anonymous
PS. . . the 240K hubs increase your track by about .5" each side, but position the Honda rotors perfectly. And also fill out your guards a bit better! Cheers again - Simon
