big-phil
Is this just a knock off, wont last to long junk turbo, or is it any good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T4-T04E-Turbocharger-A-R-63-stage3-turbo_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ8063348288QQrdZ1
Metallicar
I purchased one of those on ebay from a guy who claimed it was used for a few hundred miles. The turbo sure looked clean inside and out. It did have some shaft play. I took it apart to investigate and found that the casting of the center section had a pretty wide crack in it where the bearing floats. This crack could have been caused by lack of oil, but since everything looked pretty sterile, I think the casting may just be poor. One other thing, the "5 bolt pattern" is not the same as the stock unit. It is off by quite a bit. I am toying with the idea of bolting up the cold side to my Nissan T3
Hugh
".63 A/R COLD .58 5 BOLT STANDARD HOT SIDE 3"INLET DIAMENTER 2"OUTLET .57 COMPRESSOR WHEEL TRIM .60 A/R COMPRESSOR .63 A/R TURBINE 57 TRIM" Sounds like the guy is having trouble making up his mind just what the specs are on this turbo. It looks CHEAP to me. I'd rather spend $200 for a Garrett. I won't buy anything that isn't Garrett or AIResearch or HKS (Garrett), actually. Reminds me of the "SSAutoChrome" turbos... the ones that the compressor housing falls off and is apparently GLUED on. With that outlet, you still have to buy the bolt up flapper housing, too.
