veritech-z
I've always liked open front fenders. I first saw it done on a third gen RX-7 and thought it was the stuff.
OlderThanMe
I had seen it on mullsane's corner and put some thought into it. During Engineering orientation class I made a quick sketch on some of my notes of a Z with the open fenders and liked it. I really like the stock 280Z turning signals on a mostly stock bodied Z with the MSA type 2 air dam... Anyway I am going to try and get a welder and fabrication tools and say heck with a motor for now.I don't know what I want to do... I'll pull out the black, tan, and green rattle cans and build a steel widebody before January...
veritech-z
tan, green, and black, eh? coming out of the camo closet once and for all then, are we? You can finally be a member in good standing of my and chewievette's club! I think the reason open fenders works so well on Z's and RX-7s is because of the good amount of space between the wheel and the door. OlderThanMe
we'll see. It won't be for long either...maybe a year... Maybe like that Zero paint job...
OlderThanMe
another view and a few changes...I'm not really liking this one so much. Once I get a nice aerodynamic look then I'll work on doing a final sketch and work from that. I am now working on another sketch that uses a g-nose. I would really like to see some more sketches of other members and some of their designs. I am going to be getting a welder and some metal fab stuff soon and I'll be doing an all steel body on my Z. I don't want to deal with steel and fiberglass or carbon fiber mixed together. I may go to the dark side and make panels out of aluminum for the ultimate in light weight. Since I will be redoing the whole front end anyway I might as well and cut the weight in half while I am at it. V-Z's drawings are mind boggeling and Driftn280zx has some good s130 stuff... I'll do a modern style kit later. I like the classic look and race inspired parts.
turboboost
Someone should design that kit:icon44:
OlderThanMe
I might be making some front fenders similar to those for my Z but with a slightly different approach.
veritech-z
OTM, that new drawing is scoop-tacular! What happened to the radiator upper support? I just got back from the Tampa International Auto Show. They had an exotic display, and Subaru had a real WRC STI on display. You guys thought MY wings were nuts, you should see the pics I took of this alien spacecraft...
OlderThanMe
radiator upper support!?!?!?! What's that??!?!?!?! I am thinking of a tubestacular front end... I don't need no stinkin' radiator support...

AK-Z
oohey..me likey. I have been doing mostly sketches of turbo systems and other stuff lately. Thanks. I kinda worked off of another persons drawing that I got off of here a while ago, can't remeber who's it was though. Hopefully it can become reality. Already got the headlights (yamaha r6. and yes managed to have them project hi/low beams in the same direction.) Needed 2 of them because right and left set of lenses are different. Can go into detail but, seems like I'm babbeling.
veritech-z
Looks a lot like Driftn280zxt's stuff (conceptually, anyway)...nice looking drawing though!
AK-Z
Looks a lot like Driftn280zxt's stuff (conceptually, anyway)...nice looking drawing though! Probably is . Can never get the intial shape/position right myself. Easier for me to build off of another drawing.
