spdkilz02
OK, im getting an '83 280zx turbo and the car has sat for the past 10 years or so. The reason it was parked was because it had stopped running and they never got it fixed. So basically I am wondering where should i start and what should I do? I have always been around cars in the past and now, just never had a Datsun, or any turbo car in that matter. Thanks in advance for all your help, Adam
big-phil
Akron, home of the Star Boyz. anyway... check compression, fuel, spark. You have to have all of these for the motor to run. Then mabe take the inlet boot off the turbo and see if there is any shaft play in the turbo.
cygnusx1
Check: Oil Water Compression Fuel Pressure FI Relay turning on? AFM Flap stuck? Crank it over and look for spark from the coil wire. !!ATTENTION!! I bet the ECU and/or AFM connectors got loose. 9 out of 10 times that's why they either run like cr*p or don't run at all. Just take off the ECU cover by the drivers left foot, Unplug/Plug-in the three connectors and that should fix it.
