I have been waiting for the new 195s for my 383 build up all year. I relized these heads are pretty much brand new, but has anyone seen any builds up yet with numbers. I have yet to find offical flow numbers too. The only links were from ad performance I found so far!!!!!!!!!!!

I don,t know why, the basic formula/guide to expected hp from FLOW numbers is

.257 x max flow x #of cylinders= expected max hp

so those 270 cfm flow #s relate to a 555 hp expected

so those 282 cfm flow #s relate to a 579 hp expected

thats for a N/A engine, add a supercharger or nitrous and the power goes up significantly

BTW heres a very good big block head

thats about 850hp of flow

Yes, they FINALLY made them.

Our first set shipped to us on Monday and we should have it in the next couple days.

Flow figures are quoted at Competition+ levels out of the standard race ready cylinder head. 290+ cfm was originally achieved but I believe through production it's down to about 288cfm on a 195. Still, by far the highest flowing out of the box heads available.

Lighter weight valve train, better casting, all around its an improved cylinder head. AFR's SBC heads were the oldest of their line and the progression from the SBC > SBF > BBC > LS1 has seen casting and porting improvements at every step, the new SBC's should be the nicest yet and a big improvement over the current SBC's.

If you guys have specific questions I can probably answer them...

It pains me to see those graphs after being around the LS1's for a while.

Yes that is true, but for a 195cc head that has quite a bit of flow plus velocity at lower rpm from the small cross section area. AFR rocks!

But then again the LS1 style trick flow head at 215 cc, for a 3.9 bore flows well over 310 at .6

If I follow the equation it come out around 637 hp.

And the TFS LS1 style 4.03 bore head runs 341 CFM For a good 700 hp.

I think your L92 heads can beat that if worked up a bit. In fact if I'm not mistaken they hit 330 stock.

:yup: And all for $765 shipped for the pair, complete and brand new with the Patriot Gold double spring kit (good to 650 lift) and 2 extra each of intake and exhaust valves and the offset rockers. I wouldn't be touting them so much if they weren't like the cheapest aluminum head available.

More in line with this thread: if I was buying SBC heads, I would without a doubt get AFRs.

OT….

Brian,

WOW! Fancy seeing you here… Paul Ruschman here. We have had a couple correspondences via E-mail concerning 180 degree crankshafts. I didn’t know you were a Hybrid-Z guy. Hmmm…

I hope my last explanation of what a “180 degree” or “flat crank” is, was easier to understand. Some times my explanations come out clear as mud, and I apologize if that was the case.

If my last explanation was still a bit confusing or unclear of what a “flat” domestic V-8 crank is, there is also a thread here on this forum that lightly covered what those cranks are.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled cylinder head thread..

It's here! I'll try and post pics as soon as I can get them taken.

Basic 1036 SBC 195 - 75cc chamber, box stock with no options.

The 210's should be 3-4 months, hopefully.

Paul - I did, thank you.
