oinojo
right now im in another pickle... when i placed my driveshaft onto the car, it seems to be an inch off... i can bolt it onto the diff flange but slip yoke will not sit flush onto the transmission sleeve. there is about an inch or so of space available. My question is, would it be safe to run it like this? I got the whole package from garrett76zt (tranny and driveshaft). He has basically the same setup (r200 rear, l28 engine) yet it came up short? I dont think there is there is a difference from the 72' 240z and the 76 280z from the transmission to differential.
jnjdragracing
How far does the drive shaft yoke go into the trans? If it goes into the trans but you have almost an inch out from the seal to the drive shaft then you should be okay. John
evildky
has the collar been cut off the driveshaft? also what year is your chassis and what diff are you running, I had to have my shaft shortened about an inch to fit my early 71 with the R200
Garrett76Zt
yep it sits about an inch out. You'll be fine.
evildky
oh, yeah you need the extra bit of space to keep the shaft from bottoming out under hard launches when the drivetrain moves back a bit
TimZ
yep it sits about an inch out. You'll be fine. When I've had custom driveshafts made, having the yoke about 1 inch from bottoming was always the target, so it sounds like you are just right.
