Guest Gr8White
Just got my a#$ handed to me by a bolton 2000 z28 ! Ugh! thanks Ah, don't feel so bad. "Bolt on" seems to be a subjective term these days....What is your V8 platform based on, I.E., LS-, LT-, etc....??
grumpyvette
GOOD CYLINDER HEADS will make or break your combos power potential, yeah we all have a strong tendency to look for "BARGINS","DEALS" and to rush to get results, and optomistically expect "fairly good" to be GOOD enought, trust me here! the heads you buy will totally make or restrict your power potential, the differance between some $500-$800 heads and $1300- $1500 heads can easily be 70-80 hp OR MORE! PRICE is NOT directly related to QUALITY or POWER POTENTIAL , but you do tend to get what you pay for, I.E. the better heads do cost more and crap goes for alot less! theres few other things that will SCREW up an engines power potential faster than restrictive heads or not matching the cam, compression ratio and drivetrain/gearing to the head flow rates, in the rpm range you want to make http://www.dartheads.com/manager/uploads/Tech%20-%20215%20IRON%20SBC.pdf http://www.sdpc2000.com/search.asp?searchterm=25534431&doquery=1 http://www.brodix.com/Top%20End%20Combos.html http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&catalogIdentifier=Jegs_Direct&categoryId=27305&parentCategoryId=10187 power.http://www.trickflow.com/product/chevycylinderheads/rseries_sbchevy/pr_r_sbchevy.asp
jt1
Joe, if you want to go with a factory head, I've got a set of 186's that came off an old circle track motor I used to run. They're in barn condition, would need a valve job and springs at least. They have a moderate port job, guideplates and studs. pm if interested. DaleMX
Dont be disapointed, as a bolton 2000 is a 340 RWHP car. Quite stout if you ask me. With just a cam it can hit close to the 400 RWHP mark, with heads your workin' on 450 and they rev to 6800 with the stock bottom end. With ARP rod bolts you can hit 7000 +. I vote for "Forced Induction"! Bolt on and rock the Camaro's world.

Guest Needa406Z
I got some iron Sportsman 2's (pocket ported) by world when orderd: 200cc 2.02int 1.60ex, less than 5k on valve springs with no track time. And by the way I did beat a 400 whp c5 vette with these heads and a flat tappet solid cam 242/254 @.050 280/288 adv. right at .500 lift after lash. Guest zfan
If you have the money go AFR, if not search around for Dart Pro 1's, Trick Flows, Edelbrock Victor Jr., Brodix Track 1's, Canfields. I am running the 200cc Canfields on a stroked sbc and have "owned" alot of Camaro/Trans Ams with LS1's and bolt ons, bottles. It's so fun!
