Z-Noob
Tomorrow I am going to pick up an "R200 LSD" from a gentlemen who said it was original from a 83'zx. Now I have "searched" on the forums and have come to the conclusion that 83' zx were not LSD. My question is, what is the easiest way to determine if the rearend has an LSD unit? The unit is apart from the automobile. I ws going to attempt to spin the driveshaft by hand while having a friend holding one of the axles and making my determination on what the other axle does. Does this sound logical? Thank!!
skipzoomie
Hold the pinion flange and turn one of the axle flanges. The opposite axle flange will turn in the same direction.

RB26powered74zcar
Spend a few minutes reading in the drivetrain section, and you'll educate yourself enough to where there shouldn't be any doubt on your part.... I think you should look at pics of what a LSD carrier looks like, then just pull the rear cover off the diff and have a look, if its out of the car..... spork
Yes...pull the cover! Otherwise you might just be getting a welded diff...and that would be dissapointing to say the least.

RB26powered74zcar
I guess you know, but those are short nose diffs. One is a R200, the other a R230. Neither one is a strait bolt in....
COZY Z COLE
If you are planning on using that R-230 I hope you know what you are getting into.... LARRY
Z-Noob
230 is going on ebay...200 is going in the Z. Yeah it might be a little more work but for $175.00 it ws to cheap to let go...It has both axles and was taken out of a 55k miles car.
