RB26powered74zcar
The info you seek is in the RB section. Start off reading the top row stickys....
260DET
The RB20DET would be last on the list for me. Pissy little motor.
mtcookson
The best way would be to go with a VG30ET, or at least the easiest way and very low cost compared to try getting an RB. On top of that, the VG30 would be a little more potent than the RB20. There's tons of info on doing that swap. Check out http://www.redz31.com, http://www.z31performance.com, and http://www.Z31.com. You can find a lot of info on doing that swap there.
Racinjitter
The RB swap is very time consuming and pretty costly. I am in the middle of my swap right now. I am swapping in a RB25DET into an 88 Z31. The VG30 is a very capable engine and rather inexpensive to build, but dont let me sway you one way or another. Here is a link to my swap in progress... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=109458
Guest Jason84NA-T
ive got a 86 300zx and i want to go turbo and ive been told that going to a rb20 wwould be the best way to go turbo ive got a bit of money and i want to know what my options are An RB20 would be a complete waste of time. FJ20 and SR20 would be slightly less of a waste of time. RB25 has about the same or slightly less potiential as the VG30 you already have, so that's more of a lateral move with the "coolness" factor. If you want to go RB, RB26 or bust. Yes, they are baller expensive now. You could bolt-on your way to a 500HP VG for the price of a used stock RB26DETT motorset.
