In a nut shell: Air cooled was COOL and the true purists Porsche 911. It represented true to the form for over 40years. Also water cooled 911s especially the first gen 996 NA engines MANY suffered severe engine failure which Porsche refused to cover. Many with less than 50K miles on the clock, it hurt their reputation and they had to run back to the drawing board quick to keep their rep. intact.
