cygnusx1
I have a home generator installed in my detached garage. It's a 6500watt Generac gasoline model. I don't keep gas in it because it goes stale. In the event of a power outage, I plan to siphon gas out of one of our three cars. Does anyone have a recommended hand pump for siphoning fuel? I saw alot of the hand crank 55gallon drum types but all I need is a simple hose I can drop into the tank filler and a squeeze bulb to prime the line. I can't seem to find a source for one. BTW ...I quit syphoning gas by mouth when i was 16. YUCK. ;-(
OlderThanMe
You can usually find a little bulb type at Autozone or Advance. Pep boys tends not to carry them. I think "Wally-world" may carry one as well. It took me forever to find one when I was trying to get the gas out of my Z's tank. Then I found the drain plug...lol
Sumo
I use this one from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=3878 it worked out pretty good for used oil too.

OlderThanMe
There is also one that you attach your drill too that looks like it would work good.
dsommer
Gas + electric drill + sparks = BOOM How about just getting a 5 gallon jug of gas, put some stabil (sp) in it and let it sit until you need it? If I were you I'd run the generator for 10-15 minutes every other week. Just my .02 worth.
cygnusx1
It's kind of a PITA to run the gen. every other week and Stabil wont really do that well for really extended storage. Another issue is that we have had periods of 3-5 days without power here. I dont want that much fuel in the garage in cans. Three cars hold alot of fuel and it's always fresh. Also, the local stations wont pump without electricity. Without power, I have no water, no toilet, no heat...you get the picture. I will check out Harbourfreights website. Thanks.
