As most of you may know, there has been a long standing feud between "neighbors" of PIR and the raceway especially regarding noise levels. Sam Adams is now a neighbor of PIR and become a very vocal spokes person regarding the impacts of the raceway on the neighbors. Don't pay attention to the millions of dollars being contributed to the local economy, don't worry that the closest similar venue is near Seattle Washiington and don't worry about the numerous events you each have either participated in or watched. Noise is the door that opens to allow the termination of the facility. The adopted Capitol Improvement plan for PIR through the City of Portland's management has failed to be implemented for the past several years. Funds allocated to this facility have been redirected to other more socially acceptable needs. If Adams is successful in getting noise limitations, what type of racing will actually occur? Fight Sam Adams representing a small but vocal group of which he has a vested interest. This post is to request you go to http://www.friendsofpir.com and register your support for the preservation of the track and its facilities. It costs nothing except a little of your time to fill out the form. The minorty gets heard because the majority shuts up and thinks everyone else will do their fighting. You need to be heard, your voice and vote counts! Thanks for supporthing this organization!!!! And remember to pass this on to any person or group that you think is affected by the potential closure. And let's remember that apartments, condos and businesses bring in more taxes. Oh... and the good councilor's home will increase in value too. It's a win-win-win situation for the good councilman.
