Acronym Definitions?

Recommended Posts

I keep reading suspension threads from the past trying to learn more, but I find myself chin deep in acronyms that I dont know the definition to. You guys are as bad as engineers when it comes to talking about suspension. I would like people to define the acronyms used when talking about Z car suspension. Pictures of these parts would be great to help define everything as well. Thanks for you help. I hope I'm not the only person confused by all of these acronyms.

Regards,

Justin

Here are the few I can think of right now:

LCA - lower control arm (redundant because there is no upper control arm)

TC rod - tension-compression rod

RCAs - Roll center adjusters (aka Bumpsteer spacers)

Poly Bushings - polyurethane bushings

Is there any one specific acronym that you don't understand?

from the thread linked below,

ARB - anti-roll bar

CG - center of gravity

RS - roll steer

RC - roll center

RCH - roll center height

RA - roll axis

DRC - dynamic roll center

IC - instant center

FT - full throttle

PT - part throttle

WOT - wide open throttle

NRA - neutral roll axis

NSP - neutral steer point

LLT - lateral load transfer

LLTD - lateral load transfer distribution

SLA - short long arm suspension

DR - damping ratio

SR - tire slip ratio

UO - understeer/oversteer
