well my motors in the machine shop, and i need to go ahead and make a decision on a piston choise, im not yet sure weather or not i want to go back to turbo or not tho. could i just throw a set of turbo zx pistons in there and use it either way, or are they lower compression pistons?

any suggestions, should i use flat tops if i want to do n/a for higher compression?

thanks guys

yes, you can. it will have 7.3:1 compression and won't want to go much above 4700 rpms under load, but amazingly, will have a bit of low end grunt. At least mine did before I disassembled it to rebuild with better pistons. (former owner was planning a turbo upgrade, so rebuilt it with turbo pistons. I am replacing them with Nissan Motorsports Euro pistons).

You couldnt go above 4700rpm with 7.3:1 pistons? There was somthing else wrong with your engine/ecu.

You should be able to go to redline with 5:1 comp pistons. You wont have crap for power but you'll still make egnough to move the car.

it could in the lower gears, but not in 3rd/4th, just ran out of steam. no ecu, and everything else was fine. It did run a little rich though.
