Guest Mark Musselman Posted March 11, 2007 Share Posted March 11, 2007 I was wondering if anyone might be able to help with my brake problem. I have a 1971 240. I was driving two weeks ago and the right rear brake locked up. I checked the e-brake but it was, and is not engaged. A friend suggested replacing the wheel cylinder, which I did. The rear wheel is not locked any longer, but there still seems to be quite a bit of drag on the wheel. I remember the brake pedal pulsing with changes in rpm, just before this happend. I have done a V-8 swap and some frame modifications, but have not gotten to the brakes yet. I was going to do a disc conversion this summer, as I don't have the time or money right now. Pop N Wood Posted March 11, 2007 Share Posted March 11, 2007 Is it the brakes rubbing? When you replaced the wheel cylinder, you should have been able to adjust the brake shoes back so they don't rub. Guest Mark Musselman Posted March 12, 2007 Share Posted March 12, 2007 It is the brake shoes rubbing, specifically the rear shoe. I did not adjust the pads back in. I will give that a try.
