z_webslinger
Are the Toyota 79-84 four piston calipers inexpensively available anywhere? I wanna do the conversion and I've found that local Autozone has em' for $35 a side but they want a hefty $37 per side for the core. Is that cheap or can I find them where I don't have to pay a core? Thanks!
Guest Anonymous
The 1979-84 Toyota 4x4 calipers are not that plentiful. You can probably find your cores at a junkyard from anywhere from $10.00 to 40.00 a side. Also check out the Toyota 4 wheel owners who can probably put you on to some cheap calipers. These things are a bolt on but do not expect them to be compatible with all wheel centers without spacers and longer wheel studs. My old junker aftermarket wheels bolt up fine but my expensive wheels do not because of wheel center interference with the calipers.. I was given my set of calipers and my friend bought a pair for $20.00 from a private party.
Tim240z
Someone posted that there was a junkyard somewhere that supplied these calipers for a VERY reasonable price and gave a warranty. Do a search and might find the source. Tim
Guest Anonymous
Maybe a suggestion here. If you get the new ones from Autozone, just throw any old calipers back in the box for cores. I dont know what they are like there, but I know here, there is just a bunch of kids running the place. They dont know the difference between a spark plug and a air filter. I doubt they would know they are not the same core. John
MYRON
I did just that and the guys at Autozone didnt even look. The swap cost me a total of like 79.00 bucks! that included the new pads.... You will have to trim down your that sheet metal dust cover a little for the new calipers to fit. Myron
