V8_DatZun
around the outer edges of my t-tops the paint is coming off... its the black portion doesnt really look like paint... but under it is pitted metal. IS that just normal paint? or is it some sort of special coating i'll have to get redone by some special shop

007max
I've got the same thing going on, lots of pitted, oxidized metal underneath the black, flaking paint. It looks like its just normal paint on top, but even if it wasn't, there's no reason you couldn't paint over it once the metal was cleaned off and primered. 83zed owner
i know this thread its old but what i did is painted it with rust tough spray paint from auto zone and it looks good. and cheap to.
SteelToad
I did the same but used some good quality Rustoleum flat black spray paint. It looked nice for a while but started to fleck and chip. Make sure you do a very thorough job prepping the metal before you paint.
Warren
Strip it (comes off easily with a razor blade), sand it, smooth it, prep it, paint it and be done with it. Mask off any areas you don't want damaged or repainted. Be sure to polish it when you're done and put a good coat of wax on it when you're done and voila, just like new. Did it on mine and it's held up well.
