supraspaz
Well I just got my Holset in today. It is off of a 2007. I got lucky and got it for $230 shipped woohoo!!! Anyhow, to all those already using this turbo, did you remove the cover on the surge housing? It looks to have a metal shield over the surge portion of the housing. Is there any benefit to removing it? Also, can someone point me in the right direction as to what type of grinding tips i should use to port the wastegate hole? Clifton
An anti surge housing will move the surge line farther to the left. It also will add a little to the time it take to make boost. There was a few threads on Supraforums about a year ago with dynos that showed the difference, Wasn't alot but was noticable.
supraspaz
Yeah, I remember reading a few threads but never really paid too close attention cuz i didnt think it pertained to me. Too bad theres no search function at supraforums.com now. I dont frequent that site much after finding this one Has anyone else experimented with the L28 and removing the shroud on the surge housing of an HY35? datman
As for the wastegate I took the exhaust housing to a local machine shop and asked the guy to bore the hole just under the size of the flap. before and after :
