Tom280z
How do you shave the rear bumper mounts?Cut and weld?Is it the same for the quarter panals?
MoNkEyT88
On my 74 260Z they bolt on to the rear sub frame, I don't know of its the same on the 280's haven't really checked. How ever you do it, remove the bumper mounts, and then grind the paint off, cut sheet metal to fit the opening, and tack weld it in. Grind flush, tack pin holes, grind, use lead, or body filler to smooth out surface, and paint to finish.. I think on a 280' they do not have the long indentations that a 240 or 260 has on the rear 1/4 panel, so you shouldn't have to perform much surgery there. I assume thats what you're talking about.. v8wannabe2
To remove the rear bumper struts, I needed to drop the gas tank to unbolt them from the body. After that you can patch the holes in the rear as mentioned above.
Challenger
Diablo did you fill in blend in the 3 piece spoiler? Did you have to take the turn signal out to do that? I have pictures of my shaved rear end in the 2+2 thread.

I have pictures of my shaved rear end in the 2+2 thread. It is a blended in spoiler but I didn't do it, the previous owner had done a lot of "custom" work on the car.
