  1. Yep! I'm 6'3" and hate short work benches. Wow Bloz, that looks amazing. I want to do more tubing and pipe work. Here's something I messed with years ago.
  2. I was thinking steel, but I want it to be light enough to lift because it barely fits over the welder. I'll have more room for work benches when I get the damn T56 and LQ9 into a Z.
  3. I decided I was sick of welding on the floor or on a piece of sheet metal, so I decided to make a compact table out of stuff I had laying around. It's made to fit over my tig welder so I can put it away when not used. I'm going to put an aluminum top on it, as well as some adjustable feet and center supports. http://i.pgu.me/pb1-jgxC_original.jpg I want to play around with my new dimple dies. http://i.pgu.me/PmEtXLhU_original.jpg Any tips that I should incorporate?
  4. And what the heck mask was he wearing?!!
  5. Love it!! Don't know how I missed all the other vids!!
  6. I believe I canceled my order because of the bad reviews of showcars. I haven't ordered any imsa fenders yet.
  7. I used this calculator. http://www.motokarts..._calculator.xls
  8. Sorry, I just assumed npt because he specifically mentioned npt fittings in the first post. Yes, there are also fittings that do not require sealant.
  9. Just make sure you use pipe sealant or tape and turn your fittings in 2-3 turns from finger tight so you don't have any air leaking into your shielding gas. A big box hardware store should have fittings and tubing that would work for you. Good luck.
  10. Well, haven't been working on the track z, but did find this little gem tonight The main hoop has a 1/4" gap between the floor plate and is only welded 3/4 of the way around. I just purchased a set of dimple dies to gusset in the cage to chassis. Looks like I'll have to look over all the welds.
  11. Thanks everyone for the great info! The JD2 bender is definitely on my list. Are there any other tools which you find crucial when working with tubing?
  12. Looking good! Looks like you've made good progress on the project! And the LQ9 power is great!
  13. I've been looking into tubing benders and hoping to find one for sale locally. The jd squared model 3 caught my eye as well as the pro tools 105. The jd2 dies are very expensive, the pt105 can be had for 100$ less, plus dies are a little cheaper. The only one I found locally was a "lowbuck" hydraulic bender, but I'd rather use the pt105 or jd2 m3 manual style. Then there is the cheapest of them all, known as the "kinker" harbor freight tubing bender. Some people have got them to work okay with modifications. Personally I will be going with the pt105 or jd2 m3, which can also be upgraded to hydraulic. I plan to use it for modifying my roll cage and adding to it, probably using 1.5" tubing. I'd like to be proficient at it, but I'm afraid I won't get my money's worth out if it which is why I'm wondering if a cheap bender would be enough. What type of bender do you use, and what type of work do you do with it? Do you feel it lacks in any areas?
  14. Thanks for all the sugguestions! Looks like I'll be getting creative with sq tubing. It should make the seat a little higher. And I have two new seats to install. Currently I have an aluminum seat in, and it's so low I can barely see over the dash and I am 6'2"!!
  15. So, Im looking for some ideas. My 260z had the stock driver seat brackets cut out and the seat was installed by drilling holes in the floor and mounting it with fender washers. Ofcourse the sheet metal ripped. What is a safe way to create mounts for the seat and 5 point harness.
  16. I can't stop watching that video.. okay.. must work on LQ9 project.. That is an AMAZING machine. Make sure there are some cameras rolling when you get her driving.
  17. Is the main hoop of that cage ideally mounted to the wheel wells? Also, with such wide wheels, and low backspacing how long do the wheel bearings last?
  18. Looking for the rear hatch hinges, as I have no idea how I've managed to misplace TWO sets!! 6liter240z@gmail.com Thanks.
