Guest 280z.Dats
I'm having a difficult time choosing between a 1970 350 LT-1, a later year LT1 or a LS1. I don't think the smog restrictions apply to me in Florida, however I may be mistaken. I'm looking to swap in a V8 for a daily and I don't think I'll be doing any other engine mods after that, other than making it look pretty. What are benefits of each, looking at wiki I found that the 1970 has more HP after that they started adding all that smog tech, reducing overall output. If I were to go with the 350, the trans. that mounts with thatwould be a L-56(?)Not sure, wrote it down somewhere. Thanks in advance, hope it's not too much trouble. 280zinFlorida. grumpyvette
the LT1 will be simpler and easier and cheaper,to install and modify the LS1 will produce the better car once its correctly swapped, IF both engines are similarly equiped or modified
LT1-280z
Late model LT1 - T56 is the way I went, very happy with it.

Brad-ManQ45
The 1970 LT-1 and LT1 engines have about the same horsepower - 1970 used gross figures. Driveability-wise either of the FI motors will be better.
