Guest RENN TURTON Posted November 14, 2002 Share Posted November 14, 2002 Ok, uphostery is done.(black leather with graphite suede centers). 3" mandrel exaust is done. Jet black PPG paint(basecoat/clearcoat). My car has been in paint jail since second week of May, and should be completed in the next week or so. My next step is to have them take it over to the tire and rim shop. My question at this point is what is the widest rim/tire combination that I can fit in the rear 17x__? Back in 1987 on a previous 79zx with 383 chevy motor I was running 15x8 centerlines with 225-50 out back and could hardly get any traction on a spirited launch. Cody 82 ZXT Posted November 16, 2002 Share Posted November 16, 2002 I have 17x7.5's on mine. If you do a search you'll find several post that I 've put pics on about the clearence in the front. As for the rear they will fit with out any adapters but, to make them look right I used some. They 1.5" so yes with the right offset you could use 17x9's.
