Guest DeadlyImpulse07
When I bought my 1975 280Z there was no cap on the fuel tank.. first thing that came to mind, debris, moisture, bugs inside. I dropped the tank and sure enough it sounded like there was dust or something inside, well put some gas in, shook it up and emptied it, and what color came out? rust orange! the tank doesn't have any soft spots. what should I do? is there a chemical fix? or do I need to find a new tank? and if so, where can I find a new or refurbished tank? thanks, Jeff
m4xwellmurd3r
you can get it boiled and re-lined. i belive most radiator shops can do it.
deja
Like m4xwellmurd3r said a radiator shop would probably be the easiest and fastest. If you wnat to tackle it yourself here's a couple options. http://www.por15.com/products.asp?dept=12 http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=382&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C389%2C390%2C398&KickerID=353&KICKER I haven't tried either and have heard mixed results form this type of "fix"
smoorenc
I used acetone and a bunch of galvanized nuts and bolts. You can also use chains. Swish them all aound really good. Drain the acetone. Then blow it all out with compressed air or a leaf blower, make sure its really dry in there. Then get a Fram G3 gas filter and put it in between the gas tank and the pump inlet. Switch the filter out as leeded. Mine was like one a week, then it went to every 2 weeks, then once a month, Then lasts a long time. The filter is clear plastic so I would watch it to see when it got "gunked" up.
