rayamajhia
Hello all, I have 1980zx n/a and I am having problem with cold start and I have been reading the pervious thread and got confused. When i first my car is starts nice in cold but when I try to drive right away then it hegitates and backfire. Then either I have to let the car to warm up for 10 - 15 min and the problem is gone or i have to give like really hard rev for 10 to 15 time to get the engine to warm and the problem is gone. Other wise the problem is there. Please advice and many thanks to everybody. ray
Devil-Z
I would leave the AFM alone and check the temp sensor that is mounted in the thermostat housing. If it goes bad the ECU thinks the engine is cold all the time and dumps more fuel into the motor, causing it to backfire and stumble. nismopick
Also check your air regulator... if it's not opening / closing correctly it can cause bad idle. And here is a simple explanation of adjusting the AFM: http://www.geocities.com/jfairladyz/AFMrebuild.html?1144191577198
