Guest Epic03
My boss is selling me his 1983 280z, for a pretty good price. When he tries to start up the car, it only cranks... I'm pretty technically inclined, however I'm new to z's....I love them but I dont know anything about them mechanically. He said he's been trough 3 ECU's and every time that seems to fix the problem...until the new one it burnt out. According to him, the error doesnt mess with anything other than the fuel management system... Any help is greatly appreciated..
sweetleaf
If it's an 83, it would be a ZX. As for the ECU problem, sounds like there is an intermittent short in the wiring somewhere.
Guest Epic03
I just need this thing to run for about 45 minutes, untill It gets to my house. Is there a way I can bypass the injectors and create a faux-carb?
Careless
not really. try towing it before you attempt that stuff. to be quite honest, it may not be the ECU, it could be the ignitor, it could be the coil itself, it could also be the distributor being worn and old. if it's the ecu, it would cost you less to find a replacement than to try and "carb" it somehow to get it home.
