Comrade_Charlie
I finally got the wiring harness out of my 81 280zxT and im wondering what off of the harness I need to keep and what I can cut off... im putting a l28et in an old Toyota Corolla(only way toyotas are fast right!!lol) or attempt to, I have nothing better to do with my time and have the parts and services like a fabricating shop my cousin works at and my school, but any way. I figure I need all the fuse junk, all the relays, the harness from the ecu to engine(injectors, afm, o2 sensor(planning on swapping to a z31 ecu seeing as how Z31s is all I used to work on I have 3 turbo z31 ecus and wiring harness and dizzys for them)(but my harness is a 81 so I need a 82-83 zxt dizzy so keep that in mind) I read something sometime ago about needing something to do with the fuel pump and the car wouldnt run. The corolla was carburated so I figure I can just rig a external walbro fuel pump up. I didnt take any of the wiring from the passenger seat back(so all the fuel pump wiring is still in the car should I take that out before junking the car?) Im going to run a 5spd trans so I dont think there is any wiring there. I figured I dont need any wiring that is under the dash(except for fuses and ecu stuff). Comrade_Charlie
Also just some pictures, when I got the 280 I was told it had a "slight rod knock" LOL check out the pictures. I think one or two of the other rods are bent also, its a 100,000 mile motor by the way too. I still have not gotten that piston and rod out because it needs to be cut out, I cant bend it back or push it through the bottom. I am getting another motor(one that runs) and a 5spd tranny(and other parts like a altenator and bracket) from a friend for 100 bucks, he is putting a v8 in a 280z. The l28 and all its glory the messed up crank The 280 was never much to look at, but I consider it a steal for 100 bucks as it was close to me, my cousin towed it and it has one of the smoothest spinning turbos I have ever felt.(only parts missing were the alt. parts and the ecu. and the afm was broken) All the wiring is sitting in the floor board of the corolla. JSM
Make sure you grab the plugs the harness plugs into also.
