  4. Ive been looking around for something with decent power and non turbo just for simplicity... Was looking at the vq30de out of the maximas, but they need a trans adaptor to work with a rwd 6spd from the 350z, and they are front sump... But what about the vg30de from a j30, easy to find, and 200hp... Do they differ from a z32 vg30de? on car-part.com they seem to be twice or 3 times as expensive? same transmission bolt pattern?
  5. In my local pull a part they have started to bring over the c4c cars, Sad time for the car world, there is now 2 unusable 1uz's sitting in ls400s in the junkyard now, paperweights I suppose. But they have a holding area for the c4c cars they havnt brought in yet, and I cant count the number of nice looking trucks in there. Honestly I think they should have destroyed the body instead of the engine/trans, A engine/trans can be removed, a body, not so much and the title is ruined. Cut the A pillars or something, would have probably been cheaper too, just some blades instead of that crap to pour into the engine.
  6. you've checked the fuel pressure? Crappy old fuel injectors will make a engine run like dirt. I got mine rebuilt and it was like a new engine. Just a though, I guess check the ohms on them if you haven't. Other than fuel pressure, and maybe cam timing? I have a ls400 right now that idles fine but doesn't have any power, someone told me its the timing but who knows. Vg's can have some weird issues.

Does any one have a drawing of the dimensions of the vg30dett, height, height at the valve covers, width at the valve covers, at the turbos, at the oil pan, length, Throwing around the ideas of dohc vg in a truck I got. The suspension in the truck is pretty low and compact and the PO cut out the fender wells so I feel there is plenty of room but id like to get some rough measurements. Im going sohc vg30 if I have to modify anything(as in frame).

  9. I like the idea, but if someone merely made a production dohc head for the l28 it would be popular, why try to make this instead, maybe your not trying to make it and just trying to think of something new, i dont know. I like it, cool.

  11. The only code the ecu threw was a knock sensor code, this is a 94 pathfinder. has good fuel pressure, will run off of starting fluid, so that means it has spark... The ecu ohms out correctly Would a knock sensor make it not run.

  15. To do a front mount turbo setup with N/A vg30 manifolds if you don't feel like fabbing up a set Id say its impossible to do on a l28
  16. ive heard that 60mm TB is big enough for big power, but I guess a 90mm would make it that much easier, im selling my 90mm q45 TB to pay for this turbo, I borrowed money, trying to make it back
  17. I need to measer the wheel to find out the trim and all that crap, Dont know if I can take the compressor housing off. should just be those rusty bolts but dont know if I should try. Thanks for the input, Your running a vg30? mods? Im not possitive what the exhaust a/r is. I know some have been 1.0+ some 1.0 and some under that, Im really not sure, it says 1.0 on the compressor housing, but not on the exhaust. I know the older ones were smaller and this one isnt the newest powerstroke turbo but it is in perfect condition. I know ive heard of someone blocking off one side to get the velocity up... I may try that. Im about to get a welder for me and my friend to tackle up an front mount exhaust manifold. I realize its pretty big but at least it wont restrict it. I think it would be good for a vg33 with cams and headwork... If any thing ill keep it for a future project I have planned, a 1UZ-FE in some car, starlet, z31, or s30. This is a fairly good size turbo from left to right, 4lek from 11 liter volvo, tp38 from 7.3 liter ford, h1c(old hx35)
  18. no clue how the oil lines attatch to this.. might make a little tube in a machine shop at my college and weld it to that then weld a fitting onto that, not sure.
  19. I just got a tp38 off of a 7.3 powerstroke, year unknown, it is in very good condition got it for 75 bucks... I think the exhaust is 1.0 a/r which I hear is big but rx7 guys said they have ran it, a few mustang ran it too. Any one here have any expirience with this turbo, planning on using it on a vg30et, it cant be bigger than a gt42 and I know of 2 cars running those making 800hp. Ill get some pictures but I need to figure out how to run the oil lines, it is like 2 holes in the top of it, unthreaded.

  21. I got mine out of a van also, a 99 villager, it was kinda rusty too, some rust on 2 of the intake valves, and some rust in 2 or 3 of the cylinders, it was leaning to one side, but I dont care since im boring it out to 97mm or whatever im doing. Mine didnt have the intake on it when I got it.
  22. I heard z32 people use z31 bearings as a upgrade... I know my orignal bearings had 245k on them and they wernt beaten they were worn down bad, I havnt pulled man high milage engines apart so I dont know if thats good or not. but 245k non the less isnt bad, who knows how it was ran before I got it, I put a hard few thousand miles on it before 245k. drive it like you stole it. Crank was scratched up pretty bad, but being broke and just replacing bearings and not rings/headgaskets too, I threw in new bearings and its at 265+ milage and no knocking or ticking. but the rings are gone in it now so it shoots oil all over my hood out of the valve cover by just blow by, still pulls strong at 10psi. VGs are highly unestimated(l28s are too, in other places than this forum:D). they just wont die, ive seen so many vgs running bad, but never any that just wouldnt start. its my favorite engine, the l28 is second, I would like the l28 if it was timing belt without that timing chain cover crap. I got 2 vg33e's, pain 150 for one, and paid 300 for the other, it was attatched to a 98 pathfinder that I drove 7 hours home after it was wrecked.
