rturbo 930
as far as i know you drill out the spot welds and once theyre all gone, it should just come off.
MJLamberson
so you have to put holes in the body to get it off?
Challenger
Im guessing your talking about the rear? If so just go ahead like rturbo said and drill out the spot welds and pull it off. From there If you want to fill in the holes get a piece of sheet metal and glue it on from the backside using a good metal/panel adhesive or maybe Jb weld. Make sure each piece is cleaned good of any under coating. Then from the the outside you can scim it with some bondo and rattle can it to the color of your car. Or get alot of bondo and... rturbo 930
so you have to put holes in the body to get it off?you shouldnt have to if youre careful... but i know if i were doing it, i would end up with a few.
MJLamberson
ok, also, would mopar69's way of filling the holes be the best way to fill the holes from the bumper shocks?, It sounds great to me cause I cant weld
Challenger
I meant you should do that for where you drill out the spot welds. I welded up the bumper strut holes.
MJLamberson
would it work though? or better: would it last?
Evan Purple240zt
Drill out the holes, and buy a bodyman or someone who can weld a case of beer and have them weld it up for you. Evan
Guest TeamNissan
bondoing over the bumper holes will never, ever, EVER work lol. If your care full on the spot welds you wont get holes but its impossible not to at least get dimples from the top of the drill bit.
MJLamberson
I didnt mean to sound like I was talking about bondoing over the bumper holes, I ment if I glued/JB welded a metal backing then bondod, But I get it now, thanks again guys
Guest TeamNissan
Oh, my mistake then, sorry.
MJLamberson
so not that its clarified would it work?
Guest TeamNissan
To jbweld metal backing then bondo the gap? Ya it would work and prob hold up long enough but thats one hell of a ghetto way to do it lol. Really though do it the right way and have a welder get it done. Even if you have to pay him flat rate its not going to break your bank.
rturbo 930
why not use adhesive? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=128208
Evan Purple240zt
It will be cheaper to pay an hour labor to a welder then to buy all the stuff you need to use metal-bond or anything like that. It would work though. Evan
Challenger
Yeah I dont see anything getto about metal adhesives. They are very strong and hold up great. With welding your only able to get one seam welded, you can get alot more adhesive on. People think of it as just "glue" but It really works. Thats why they call it JB"WELD". MJLamberson
alright then, If I bring this post up tommorow evening it will eather be a success story or a failure... Challenger
Be sure to spend alot of time cleaning the areas!!! Spend the time before rather then redoing it.
