Evan Purple240zt
Looking for a good gasket for the downpipe on my t3/t4 turbo. I have been looking on the net and am not having much luck. I can find the stock nissan units all day long, but not the ones that fit the standard 5 bolt flange. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I have heard several say to use high heat gasket maker, but with 1500 degree EGTs, I don't want to have to do anything again. Thanks guys - Evan
rztmartini
cheapturbos.com might have it. they are a dealer for garrett. I think that speedshopthaggard (sp?) is a garrett dealer too, and can be reached from this forum...
Pyro
I know you don't what to use high heat rtv but it works for me. On the turbo mounting flange and the down pipe.
Evan Purple240zt
The flange isn't quite flat, and I have to cover/seal around the hole for the old external wastegate. It is possible though unlikely, that a chunk could get into the turbo housing and get blown through the exhaust wheel. EEEK. Better safe then sorry. Thanks guys - Evan EDIT, after much searching I have given up on finding a gasket. Seems to me that the RTV is the only way to go, especially if getting another gasket is this big of a pain. Pyro
Yes, do what you feel is safest. Not flat is a problem. I'm using an external wastegate also. Not sure if you can see that beautiful rtv in the attachment.
Chemicalblue
Ive been using the copper type hi temp rtv sealant for years with no issues. The likelihood of it going back wards through the down pipe and into the turbo is really low, the exhaust is just moving the wrong way for that to ever happen. The gaskets that you can buy will leak if you don't have a completely flat surface, they also don't last that long anyway. Just my opinion hope it helps
letitsnow
Maybe the gasket from a mustang SVO or t-bird turbo coupe would work.
Evan Purple240zt
I do like the "bling" factor of the copper stuff LOL. Thanks guys, Ill prob. just use gasket goo. I ordered fire ring gaskets for my wastegate though. I have had no leaks with my tial gate and those gaskets. My external gate is plumbed in through the exhaust manifold btw.
