dsommer
Well I'm about to embark on the second build of this car. The first go around began in 1999 and the car kind of got shelved/lost interest in 2004 when I bought the Cobra. I didn't have a ton of money back in 99-02 to put in the project but now times have changed so here we go with the second coming of the car. Here is what I’m looking at from the top to the bottom most parts are on hand unless noted. Fiberglass SS hood Holley TB/EFI set up Edelbrock Torker intake with the hidden NO2 set up Full roller/Full forged 383 c.i. SBC stroker engine T-5 transmission with *Centerforce DF clutch and Hurst billet shifter R-200 LSD rear end with custom mounts and brackets + CV axels Custom MML coil over suspension with Tokico 5 way adjustable struts Arizona Z car racing brake set up Sport Max wheels, Fulda Z rated tires 245-50-16 (on the car now) JDM ZG fender flairs (cut metal fenders to clear the tire+wheel set up!) Bad Dog frame rails for additional strength Sump OEM tank with custom built fuel sump Custom fuel plumbing Sparco Seats SCCA roll bar Sound deaden doors Few more gauges NO2 pressure A/F meter Paint and body work So with out further ado welcome 1TUFZG Z, let the wrenching begin. Eagle 4340 crank, H beam rods Mahle pistons balanced. Had to push the car out of storeage wouldn't start. At home engine out. Rear fender taped for cut out for ZG flair. Drivers side ready for cut. I've never done this before so it's not pretty Ready for some welding[ Timing gear cover powder coated matte black. Short block coming along. Kevko oil pan before coating Coated. dsommer
Well a small very small up date. Front suspension is hung and gnose is being a royal pain in the ass. More pics to come in the next few days...weeks.
dsommer
Azcarbums Gnose being installed. SS hood, both still needs some work. This area had an air pocket under it and has to be built up, I'm sure it's an initial production flaw.
dsommer
Carbon fiber Sparrow tail from Zcar customs. Mocked up on the Scarab (doesn't belong to the Scarab) Another angle of the Sparrow tail, overall fit is VERY GOOD!!! Looks a little large in this pic but it's flatter than it appears, remember we're just holding it in place. Gnose and Sparrow tail avaliable from Z Car Custom's-JDM www.zccjdm.com P.O. dsommer
Time for another update. Rear suspension is in. Rear end is LSD with finned powder coated cover, up front we have a OEM Datsun front dif mount with a Ron Tyler bracket bolted in and an Energy Suspension poly mount sandwiched in between. Installing the RT mount was for us a PITA! First the top bolt did not line up with the mount hole, second we had to remove material from the TOP of the ES mount. Well it's in there now, nice and solid. The furthest rear X member was cut leaving the two bushing retainers, then using another custom piece from my brothers here at hybridz is the bar you see connecting the two sides together. MML coil overs and Tokico 5 ways, everything is powder coated. Enjoy. Wheels RB-R 17X9.5 -13 Tire Hankook 275-40-
dsommer
Few more updates, still working on fitment of Gnose. You can see the bracket that is supplied from the kit If you want the nose perfect you'll have to do some filling and sanding. If otherwise it is a bolt on nose, we're going for something close to perfect here. My body guy went area 51, skunk works on the Sparrow tail so it wouldn't get scratched up while working on the rear hatch so no new updates on what it looks like. We do have the RB-R's mounted with 275-40-17 tires and the coil overs cranked down to check for fitment. This is a standard ZG flair. This is the BAMF flair with a Rota RBR, you need 315's and an 11" wheel to fill this flair out. These are no longer mine but wanted to point out the difference between the two flairs. dsommer
An update pics will come later. We had an issue with the powder coating on the rear control arms so they were painted to match the the coating. I sprayed the entire interior with Second Skin sound deadener. The firewall was initially sprayed with Second Skin "fire wall" to soak up the heat, then sprayed with multipule coats of the sound deadener. Finally it's off to the paint shop where it will be painted Artic White with silver/gray flairs, rear bumper and lower g-nose.

dsommer
The engine should be est. 500HP FI through a holley TBI. Compression is 11:1 with a snow performance water/methanol injection set up. NOS wet shot is 100HP. Ignition MSD e-curve distributor. Mechanical roller cam which is gear driven. Forged pistons, H-beam rods 4340 crank all balanced. Really looking forward to a new and much improved V-8 Zcar experience.
