Guest RagedApe
I need to swap out the tranny but I cannot get to the bolts on the driveshaft! They're not out in the open at all so what did you guys used to get them out?Any trick or tips? Sorry but as you could I'm not mechanically inclined. mario_82_ZXT
Stick a wrench on one with the tranny in neutral and spin a tire the correct direction to loosen them. Maybe unbolt the swaybar for more access. I can do it with my 7/8" rear bar so it is definitely doable, just really slow. Mario
roger.svoboda
be helpful if we knew you were talking about a 240z, 260z, 280z, 280zx or zxt, 300 zx or zxt
JMortensen
Put a big screwdriver in the U joint to hold the driveshaft in place. Use a LONG 12mm wrench on the nut if you have a 240, I think its a 14mm wrench if its a 280. Unfortunately, especially with a rear sway bar that attaches to the frame in front of the diff, the driveshaft bolts are just a big PITA. I'm changing your title, as I had no idea what it was about before opening it. Could have been driveshaft removal, driveshaft vibration, driveshaft shortening, custom driveshaft, etc... Bowtiez
Per JTR conversions, I changed to an 8MM Bolt with a Hex Head and a nyloc nut. I also had an arch bent into my 7/8" and 5/8" rear sway bars to make more clearance.
