auxilary
It's a 2000 Triumph TT600. copy/paste from triumph forums: Hey guys, I just picked up a friend's 2000 tt600 (I do believe according to him, it was the first one in the states). A few years ago it developed the problem of not having any power at all until it was fully warmed up (over 175* F). He dismantled the bike to fix it, but never got around to it, picked up a few more bikes, and this one just sat for a few years. Well, I got it, pieced it back together, examined the stepper (idle air control valve) motor housing (no visible cracks), replaced the stepper motor with a new unit from Triumph, hooked everything back up, put fresh gas in it, new battery, and BAM! it fired up. It idled for a while, warmed up a bit, but it experienced the same problem. Every time I'd crank the throttle, whether gently or harshly, motor starts choking up or just not being able to overcome 2.5-3k rpm limit. A few times I was able to get it to rev up to 6-7k rpm, and it was still climbing, but would die afterwards. I've been reading on similar problems here, any ideas what I should look at besides stepper motor, since it's new? It has an older fuel map (don't know which one specifically, but I know previous owner had it reflashed at the dealer after getting a new pipe, and it ran with a new pipe for quite a long time). I just shot 2 videos of this for reference... one cold, one mostly warmed up. Watch the throttle position (my hand) in relation to RPM and sound http://www.datsunracing.com/other/ttcold.avi http://www.datsunracing.com/other/ttwarm.avi
Tombarace14
Providing the bike is FI you might check the TPS. Some early FZs had problems like that. If its carbed check the Jets, my brothers ZX6R dose that and it needs the jet kit replaced. Hope that helps, It be easier if it were in front of me. jeffer949
i was thinking a tps problem also.. if you have a service manual it should give you some testing parameters.
PETEW
Do you have a Power Commander II by any chance? They are known to go sh#!ty after awhile. If that isn't it I would look at having the TPS adjusted and the throttle bodies synched. Even if it doesn't have a power commander it could be the stock computer doing strange things. I am betting your problems are electronic and map related. Let us know what happens.
